Black Phin - A New Orlando Coffee Shop Hidden in a Green Oasis

I recently moved back to the Orlando area after moving away in 2020—and my goodness, there are so many new coffee shops! Every time I open TikTok, it feels like there’s another vibey cafe popping up that I have to add to my ever-growing list.

I won’t lie—when I drove up to Black Phin, I thought I was in the wrong place. In front of me stood a cement warehouse with a few plants outside. I followed the stylishly dressed people I saw exiting through an unmarked door, hoping for the best.

To my surprise, I stepped into an oasis—lush greenery, cozy vibes, and friends chatting over coffee! The plant shop Kiwi & Fern shares the space with Black Phin, filling the cafe with lush greenery at every turn. I realized upon entering that this was the same space where plant store “The Heavy” (rip) used to be.

I always feel like half the coffee shop experience is that brief interaction with the barista. The woman who greeted me at the counter was so kind and bubbly.

I ordered an iced matcha latte with oat milk. It tasted a bit watered down, but I’m looking forward to trying it again topped with one of their cold foams! They also serve Vietnamese coffee, which looked amazing at the table across from me.

Even though it was busy, I had no problem finding a table to myself on a Friday mid-morning. Ella Fitzgerald and slow jazz played the entire time I was there, which made for an ideal vibe.

I definitely will be visiting Black Phin again, both to try a drink topped with cold foam, and to buy some plant babies!
